I spent my childhood on a farm, surrounded by animals in my upbringing, especially of the canine variety. I've been involved in volunteer work for the SSPCA (Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in Edinburgh, helping with abandoned and mistreated animals as well as boarding dogs, as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Award. I've been a freelance photographer for the Caledonian Wolfalike Association (formally known as British Utonagan's), as well as participating in dog shows, with regular handling of wolf-a likes breeds. I've also been involved within breeding programs and have familiarity with puppies and adolescent dogs, with extensive handling of larger breed types.
I took up Dog Walking as a career for my love of dogs, walking and the great outdoors. Compared to a lot of other dog walkers out there I specialise in intimacy and attention for my clients and their dogs. I never walks more than 3-4 dogs at any one time, not that I have anything against large group walks, but personally I know the time it takes to collect and return a dog. Walking a Pack of 6-8 dogs which is very common in the Glasgow Southside area, it can take anywhere from 4-8 minutes to find a space, park and run up to a house or flat to receive a dog and return them to the van, longer on return if the dogs need dried. For some dogs they can be in the back of a van for 30-40+ minutes, then that again after walks.
No thanks!! My love to keep my walks intimate, small and extremely local to minimise this. It also allows me to keep close tabs on each dog and give any special attention that is needed without putting stress and or unnecessary frustration on your dogs, while also giving them the chance to create bonds and play with other dogs to keep socialised...no tangled leads is a bonus too!
Below are my credentials for first aid training, liability insurance, dog walking licence, as well as a police check through Disclosure Scotland. I am also currently enrolled through CPD (Continuous Professional Development) in canine psychology and dog handling training.
